It'd be an insight into your own personal experience, nothing more. Unless you are very special and worked in every prison in the country simultaneously, and doing so interacted with every prisoner and could see into their minds to ascertain their true religion. But I think I'm safe in assuming you didn't do that.
On the other hand, the statistics conflict with your limited personal experience. Hence, when you're trying to apply your singular view to the entire society, you are, in fact, making it up.
