I will simply translate and quote a phrase from one of his works "Wittgensteins Neffe" = "Wittgenstein`s Nephew" (a loving novel dedicated to his friend Paul Wittgenstein, who was the nephew of the more famous Ludwig Wittgenstein) to show you what he is like:

Waren Freunde bei mir, machte er mit diesen Freunden und mit mir Spaziergänge, widerwillig, aber er machte sie. Auch ich bin kein Spaziergeher, ich gehe schon lebenslänglich nur widerwillig spazieren, ich bin immer widerwillig spazieren gegangen, aber mit Freunden gehe ich spazieren und zwar so, dass diese Freunde glauben, ich sei ein leidenschaftlicher Spaziergeher, denn ich gehe mit einer solchen Theatralik spazieren, dass sie staunen. Ich bin absolut kein Spaziergeher und ich bin auch kein Naturfreund und auch kein Naturkenner. Aber sind Freunde da, gehe ich immer so, dass die glauben ich sei ein Spaziergänger und Naturfreund und ein Naturkenner. Ich kenne die Natur überhaupt nicht und hasse sie, denn sie bring mich um. Ich lebe in der Natur nur, weil mir die Ärzte gesagt haben, dass ich, will ich überleben, in der Natur zu leben habe, aus keinem anderen Grund. Tatsächlich liebe ich alles, nur nicht die Natur, denn die Natur is mir unheimlich und ich habe ihre Bösartigkeit und ihre Unerbitterlichkeit am eigenen Körper und in der eigenen Seele kennengelernt und da ich ihre Schönheit immer nur gleichzeitig mit ihrer Bösartigkeit und Unerbitterlichkeit betrachten kann, fürchte ich sie und ich meide sie, wo ich auch nur kann. Ich bin ein Stadtmensch und ich nehme die Natur nur in Kauf, das ist die Wahrheit. Ich existiere ganz gegen meinen Willen auf dem Land das alles im allen immer nur gegen mich ist.

When friends were at my place, he made them and me go on a walk, reluctant, but he did them. I am absolutly no walker and I am also not a friend of nature and also not someone who knows nature. But when friends are here, I always walk in a way, that makes them believe I am a walker and a friend of nature and someone who knows nature. I dont know nature at all and I hate nature, because she is killing me.
I only live in nature, because the doctors told me, that I, if I want to survive, have to live in nature, and for no other reason at all. Actually I love everything except nature, because I find nature to be sinister and I have goten to know it`s ferocity and it`s relentlessness on my own body and on my own soul and from then on because I can only view her beauty together with her ferocity and relentlessness, I fear and avoid her, wherever it is possible for me.
I am a city person and I only accept nature`s existance, this is the truth. I exist completly against my will on the countryside which all together is constantly against me.

Sooooooo. If you could compare him to anyone in this world it is minimalist.
His books are just filled with rants about everything and everyone that exists. In this novel alone he complains about doctors, operas, cities nature, his friends, his friends family and simply everything.
But unlike min. Bernhard manages to express love and compassion for friends and others between the lines.
