That was the sacrifice. It is the same with what was being done with the animals in the OT. The Animals were dying so people did not have to die (for 'small' sins.)
You've explained the *why* and not the *what*. What was it that he sacrificed for me? Your explanation tells me why, but not what it was. The answer definitely does not involve "life", because he rose again.
