Or to phrase it better, how would you recognize a real god?
More to the point, what is the 'real god' you'e proposing? Because you opened with "God" in a question pertaining to Xtianity, but then palmed a card with a generic 'god' which doesn't necessarily come with anything like as much contradictory and harmful baggage. I realise you were responding to Min's use of the term but the distinction is an important one and needs to be clarified before we can make much sensible headway.
That said, of course, if it is the former you're selling, we know that bastard doesn't exist, since we know the things it's supposed to have done - six day creation, Adam and Eve, global flood etc - never happened as the mythology says they did. It's got a lot to answer and apologise for if it does turn out to exist, however. I certainly could never lower myself to worship it in any case, since the mythological record demonstrates it to have long since forfeited any entitlement it may once have had.
To give you a taste of how your question looks from my perspective, let's turn it around. What would it take for you to believe in Zeus, or Wotan, or Quetzecoatl, or Ceiling Cat, or...
Ponder that honestly then get back to us.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
