If all drugs were legal, our American capitalists would refine the manufacturing process to the point that drugs would be dirt cheap. It would be uneconomical and unprofitable for the cartels to produce drugs, and all their profit, and the power that comes with it, would wither away.
I'm not saying I'm an advocate for legalizing all drugs, as I'm not sure how our society as whole would be able to handle that, but the more and more I think about it, the more I think it's the right avenue to take to deal with the problems Polaris mentioned.
