You're going to have to forgive me, because I can't remember the details of this story and I've been drinking so I can't be arsed to find it.
Anyway, there's a rather famous journalistic photo of a vulture waiting for a bone thin, collapsed child to die so it can do what nature does. The photographer who took the picture continued on his way, and was eaten up with guilt over it.
I have no idea how photographic journalists deal with the things they do, because they are not always humanitarians or in possession of the necessary supplies to help everyone they come across.
Just be grateful they're out there - sometimes risking their lives - to capture things some people would rather you not see. Putting a human face on suffering throws a real wrench in the plans of the power hungry and the social pacifiers who'd rather you continue to live blind lives of middle-class comfort instead of demanding that those in power do something for greater good.
