So previously, terminating a preganacy by any means other than letting the mother die was illegal.

Go, catholic church!

No stronger argument can ever be conceived of for how beneficial abortion can be than how much better the world would have been if "virgin" mary aborted her fetus instead of cococt some story about her still being a virgin to cover her trails.
