In various places, public nudity is a crime. And no, you will not die without clothing inside buildings or during spring, fall, or summer months. Alternatively, you would do just fine year-round at the equator.
Essentially, you would die without clothing outside, in the middle of winter. But we already put on special clothing for that, so even that doesn't explain why ordinary, light clothing is worn by every civilized society.
