It seems to me there is yet another route to refute the 'argument' of scientist (though I would vote in favor of "to VOID" as verb of the year 2009) since the argument from intelligence presupposes that intelligence can somehow circumvent causality, i.e. he implicitly makes the stance that intention is outside nature. While of course all his examples are causes within nature. But sure, he can speculate on how invisible little green men arrange the atoms in crystals.
