I take the latter as a compliment since I seek as little hate and as much sympathetic joy as possible in my life as possible.

A laudable if naive aim for all of human kind, as well as occasionally declining to take oneself seriously. I seek and usually obtain contentment and a level of equanimity. I reject the concept of 'the pursuit of happiness' as asinine. Joy and happiness enter my life when I let them..

Hatred is built on fear.It means you have given the object of your hatred power over you.

I do not hate you or any other human being,although I despise some of the things some people do. I fear some people sometimes.I think indifference is a far greater insult to the humanity of another than dislike or hatred. THAT is something of which I'm often guilty. I'm working on it in your case,but am not there yet. When I get there,I will no longer bothers to insult you or acknowledge your existence.

I don't believe sympathetic joy is in any way naive and should be a goal of humanity. I also seek equanimity. I agree indifference is a far greater blow to humanity than hate. Your opinion would have to have importance to a person to affect their disposition, though. I think you're confusing sympathic joy with the pursuit of personal happiness ((perspective). As far as hatred I think yoda said it best. "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”-yoda
