Nobody knows what happens when we die since nobody has observed it or come back from the dead to tell us about it.
Unless you include NDE, as some do.
I honestly am not opposed to the idea that there can be something after death, but I doubt it involves a queue.
Our existence is information. That information disperses into the Universe over time after death.
Whether that information has any way of continuing to bigger and better things given millions of years, I don't know.
If you die and are unaware then a million years is the same as one second is the same as nothing. Time wouldn't even exist for you if you're unaware.
Maybe after the Universe is depleted of energy in twenty trillion years Jesus will fly in on a cloud and a trumpet will blow as all physics change and reality is altered when there is no science or conscious being left to behold it.
Probably not.
The real question isn't "is there an afterlife?", it's "would god want you to sacrifice sheep to be forgiven?" if not then let's toss out Abrahamic religions and get that cleared out of the way.

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” - Marcus Aurelius
