People who have something to show for, and think that they're wasted in America already find their ways to other countries. For those who have nothing to offer, already have a higher life standard than those from developing and underdeveloped countries who have nothing to offer and want to emigrate to Europe, which I believe to be the prime destination of Americans who do not like in America, and thats because Europe is somewhat culturally more closer to America.
And if you're so grateful, why does it seem a bit too hard for you to respect your national symbols?
I'm not only grateful, but proud to live in this atrocious wasteland, because its my wasteland, won by blood. And even if it was as you said it is(an atrocious wasteland), I'd do my best to turn it into a heaven.
Actually, Mehmet, I was not calling your place an atrocious wasteland, I was speaking in general, sorry I should have specified. Where I say I am happy not to live in your country - that is the only time I meant Turkey.
Just because we, in the vast majority of places (inner cities are more... complicated) have more than developing countries, again, does not mean America is free from criticism - I expect much more from my country. But it is, as I said, hard for many to leave - so telling them to leave, like A Theist was doing, is very short-sighted and impractical.
I cannot respect a lot about my country's politics, therefore I do not extend my respect.
You can call it whatever you want, it wouldn't matter. As I said, even if it was a wasteland, my ideals are there to ensure my commitment in turning it into a place of prosperity. What I'm trying to say that its current or future state will not impact my loyalty to the concept of a Turkish homeland, may the name be Turkey, Turkmenia, or Turkestan, and because of that, I will be loyal to it, and all symbols representing it.
What I think is this. In order expect something, you also must give something. However I see no real zeal here. I have already good living standards, perhaps beyond some of the Americans that browse this forum. Yet my expectations from my country are not in the form of what you expect from your country. I don't expect for everyone to be rich, or everyone to live as good as in, say nordic countries. Reality is, they have smaller populations than we do, and they do not live in a geopolitically important area where they are surrounded by hostiles on four sides.
They don't have to deal with constant internal terrorism nor ethnic strife.
So I think that we're actually doing pretty good, given that we don't live on an isolated continent with natural resources either.
All I expect from my country, and my nation is devotion. I don't expect factories to be built overnight, I don't expect everyone to own a PS3, I only want people to shed their egoism and selfishness, and work towards a common goal, after which, prosperity will come on its own.
But if we have people such as many people here, individualists, egoists, materialists...We'll go no further than being a frontier for the NATO.
As I've explained my expectations, which are perhaps even higher than yours, and I'm speaking for the whole lot of the nationalist community here, let me talk about respect and loyalty.
Countries and states, are in and of themselves, idealistic concepts. There is a concept of a country in my mind, which is the place where my heart lies. Do you have such a concept of an "America, my homeland" that is in your heart and mind?
