Why can't non-christians talk with god?

The christian responses are pretty weak aren't they? They amount to simple "you're not worthy", despite me being a supposedly beloved child of god's. They claim that my questions would be "hateful" which amounts to a prohibition of asking questions based on my understanding and observation using the brain and logic borne to a "child of god."
Despite their protestations, god does not speak.

Seems to me the Christian responses are fairly consistent, God answers pray to those who come to Him in the right spirit, your understanding of God doesn't matter, your acceptance of who God is, is what's required. By the way just because you can't hear God for what ever reason, doesn't mean many people have not heard Him speak to them. You need to listen with the heart, not the ears, it does have a lot to do with how you listen. Here's a great way to hear from God, go to scriptures and study prayer, then follow the instructions, you could be surprised.
