No, nobody said that WWI orWWII were religious wars, but it does seem to sneak in through the back door every time. Just as Lincoln observed, during the Civil War, on both the Union and Confederate side soldiers read the same bible, prayed to the same god and both invoked his help against the other side. And it has always been that way. In the middle east, it's always about religion along with whatever else it's about. During the Cold War we had to defeat those "godless" commie bastards. He's always on our side, after all. No matter which side we might be on.
