Knowledge is defined as "information"
Information is at its core, values that equal a sum. The universe is made entirely of information. One atom will have a value for its atomic weight and energy, and the sub atomic particles that make the said atom have their values as well. You can keep scaling this up til you reach the "human experience" and find that everything we know is all values and numbers... And if quantum mechanics has it right? All frequencies.
There are several ways to obtain information for use as knowledge.
Science - process of hypothesis and experimentation. Use logic to predict, test the prediction. Results will always yield information, even if the prediction is a failure.
Heritage of science - through study, acquire information and data already calculated and/or proven. Data recorded by other entities can be passed onto kin without experience, even data not yet tested.
Experience - naked information. Info acquired by action X time. This is observed information much like science, but without predicting logics as a precursor. Experience can lead to Science, a process in wich you attempt to validate the information you've recorded to know its greater whole (scuh as observations of super fluid, and then working the logc to determine why the observations were so - the observed to be true but why, idea).
