"Activism serves many purposes, including bringing people in our community together for polite, respectful discussion; destigmatizing the word “atheist” simply by being open “out” atheists; dispelling common misconceptions about what atheists do and do not believe by making ourselves available to the public to answer questions about atheism; increasing awareness among religious believers that atheists are present in the Kansas City community; increasing awareness to among nonbelievers in Kansas City that our organization exists and that we provide a community to nonbelievers; allowing us to show public, visible and vocal support for organizations and causes we believe in and show public, visible and vocal disparagement for organizations and causes we find harmful."
