More Christian Stupidity
More miracles that are not miracles at all.

Quote:Millions of fans worldwide have been praying for Mark Hall, the lead singer of Christian worship band Casting Crowns, who underwent surgery last week to have a cancerous tumor removed from his kidney. The singer is now home where he will continued to heal from the procedure; Hall’s wife Melanie said it is a miracle that the singer will be okay.

Quote:An Australian family now call themselves “the luckiest people in the world” after their premature newborn son miraculously survived.

Kate Ogg gave birth to twins that were 14 months premature. The babies weighed only two pounds and doctors believed on baby, named Jamie, would not survive. Christian Today reports Ogg and her husband David wanted to hold their son before he died

"I saw him (Jamie) gasp but the doctor said it was no use. I took Jamie off the doctor, asked everyone to leave. He was cold and I just wanted him to be warm. I just wanted to cuddle him. I unwrapped him and ordered my husband to take his shirt off and climb into the bed,” Ogg said.

"I wanted to meet him, and to hold him, and for him to know us. We'd resigned ourselves to the fact that we were going to lose him, and we were just trying to make the most of those last, precious moments."

The baby was pronounced dead by doctors, but then started to gasp for air, and finally breathe.

Jamie and his twin sister Emily are now healthy five-year-olds.

RE: More Christian Stupidity
At least Christian Scientists are consistent in that their actions are in line with their stated beliefs of the source of healing and health.
Stupid and self destructive, but consistent.
What I don't understand is why Christians who think they have a direct line to omnipotent power act with the exact same calculating self interest as do the rest of us. Shouldn't they be a little surprised that God doesn't give them at least a statistically measurable edge?
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

14 months premature? Thinking
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Dunno. If I were going to call anything miraculous, babies being 14 months premature would be high on the list. Big Grin

From the article:

. . . The baby was pronounced dead by doctors, but then started to gasp for air, and finally breathe . . .

According to Genesis 2:7, that is PRECISELY correct. Any Literalist God fearing pastor would have concurred with the doctors.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

14 months?

Can't be serious.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Perhaps it was 7 months per twin?

That would be a good enough explanation for your average jesus freak fuckwit.
