Somebody posted this on my FB wall a while back. I can't recall the exact words and I'm far too lazy to dig them up, but it went something along the lines of:
"If all of human society were wiped clean tomorrow and our species had to start over from the very beginning, many of our discoveries - fire, the wheel, steam power, electricity, evolution, medicines, the Big Bang etc etc - would eventually be rediscovered simply by looking at the world. All of the gods ever worshipped, however, would be gone forever."
In other words, nothing of any gods (including yours) can be discerned from anything in nature, and can only be found within the pages of 'holy' texts. Take those away and what's left?
