All kidding aside (right), who shot JFK?

Last night I came to bed after the basketball game (don't ask) in time to see the end of a documentary on the death of JFK. My wife loves disaster analysis of all kinds. She doesn't buy into conspiracy theories though.
The one I saw said JFK was accidentally killed by a secret service agent who were quick to cover it up. Frankly I'd have an easier time believing in blundering, late-night-drinking agents fucking up and then covering up than I would a scheme that people put into place on purpose.
Is there anyone here who shares my inclination to dismiss conspiracy theories who has an idea of how JFK could have been killed with a bullet that would explode his head while another bullet could've passed through him and Gov. Connally? Or is there good reason to think all the damage was done by one bullet?
Don't worry I'm willing to kiss a lot of posts to find a princely answer. So if you suspect aliens, go for it. But I'm really looking for something more down to earth.
Decided I'd better vote myself if I expect anyone else to. I chose "other" because I really have no frigging idea. I would have expected the Warren Report to be correct until that documentary made me think option 2 might be right. Now I really don't know but would be curious if anyone has what they consider to be an informed decision. (Too lazy and/or disinterested to research it myself.)
