Antisemite is a more contemporary term used to describe jew hating, yes. But from an ethno-linguistic perspective, all semites, to my understanding, are the descendents of Shem. Correctly speaking, this means Arabs and Jews are semitic peoples. The languages certainly grew from the same proto-semitic language cluster and ethnically they're related (as are all humans I suppose). It's all semantics really, but technically arabs are as semitic as jews. Still, to say you love jews sounds kinda weird. I prefer to judge people on invidiual merit, by these rational criteria I can like some people from any ethnic group and despise others from the same ethnic group. I love some jews, I detest others. I love some slavic people, I hate others........quite logical really.
PS it's worth noting that semitic people probably aren't LITERALLY descended from Shem, because these old testement characters are so shrouded in legend and mystery that most of them either never existed at all, or are only very loosely based on real tribal characters from old stories. Following population movements though, the current semitic peoples are loosely related, as demonstrated by genetics studies.
