I'm going to break ranks here and state that there IS a chance that Christians will be forced to marry Gay people in churches. I don't know about the USA but the UK submits to the European court of Human rights which acts 'legislating' from the bench. It is a distinct possibility that once Gay marriage becomes The norm throughout Europe that a group will bring a case to the ECHR demanding an end to discrimination by churches against gay people and the case will be upheld which will lead to certain unwanted circumstances. I think churches SHOULD be able to refuse gay marriage BUT in the UK Anglican(episcopalian) churches should have to allow gay marriage even if certain Ministers may refuse to conduct them.

I really doubt that will happen. Churches have always been able to refuse to marry any couple they don't want to for any reason. Some won't marry a couple where one or both parties have been married previously, for example; and some will only marry couples who attend services regularly. I've even heard of racist Churches refusing to perform traveller weddings.
I doubt that that's ever going to change, unless Churches still exist in like 100 years or something, but that's not very likely.

Actually the law states that an Anglican church must marry anyone from the Parish, they don;t have to even profess Christianity, where there is leeway is if the couple are from outside the parish and then they normally have to attend the church for 6 months. An Individual priest may refuse to may divorcees but Another minister must be found to take his place.

Well, in Australia medical staff who are ethically/morally opposed to abortions have to perform them - including 2nd/3rd trimester abortions. It is against the law for doctors/nurses to say they don't want to do it.

On the issue of Marriage - if we allow same sex marriage then why not allow all forms of marriage we don't currently allow? Child-child, child-adult, incestuous couples? Now before you claim that my argument is rubbish - I believe every relationship I've mentioned should be legally recognized under civil union legislation, along with same-sex/heterosexual/polygamy, and every one else. Even if you redefine marriage to allow same-sex couples, you're still discriminating against other groups of people, just not same-sex couples anymore.

So you say that same-sex marriage ends discrimination, but it doesn't. Discrimination isn't always a bad thing, and the ideology behind same-sex marriage is no different.

We do allow child-adult and child child marriages since you can be married at 16 when still legally a child. However we prohibit it to those younger because they cannot legally be bound to a contract. Incestous couples is to stop inbreeding. These are proper reasons. Gay marriage is not.
