Much as I appreciate the position as a kinkster myself, I don't exactly think the BDSM/LGBT comparison is a valid one; there isn't any curtailing of rights based on this fetish, for example, and the level of persecution faced is vastly different too.
Much of what those in the BDSM community experience is misconception, rather than outright abuse; I freely grant that there are nasty stereotypes out there, but the way we beat them is to be the best possible representative for our kinks as we can be, assuming we want to be out about it.
