Why do you make such a big deal out of it?

I'm certain that Western Christians deplore those things just as much as atheists. The problem is not Christianity but the pre-existing cultural context.

"Female genital mutilation, persecuting homosexuals and passing laws preventing them from getting married (or worse, imprisoning or killing them), teaching pseudoscience in public schools, 'honor killings', impeding science, picketing funerals in a time of grief, are just a few of the real world, negative outcomes of people's theistic beliefs."

Those are huge problems among Western Christians. The extent to which you can locate "liberal" Christians depends on how influential secularism has been in vicinity.
