Sports and activities tend to be very individualistic. If you find something that excites and interests you both, you'd be lucky. I imagine it doesn't happen a lot unless one partner sacrifices for the other, which is really shitty. And as you get older, it just gets harder. When I was in my teens and twenties, I did all sorts of stuff. Now you need a winch to haul me out of my chair. I did Tai Chi for several years and found that worked well for me, even though I don't like stuff with a high woo factor, which Tai Chi can attract. I suggest you try to satisfy yourself and not try for the hat trick of you, her, and the same sport. You might consider longer rides, centuries and such, that way you can get more in a shorter time, and so you don't end up using as many of your days together. Have you considered commuting via bike? I commuted via bike one year, including in 30 below weather and loved it. But it helped that the place I worked had on-site showers. You may have to finagle it a bit, depending on circumstances. If you can't commute straight back and forth to work, commute to and from a mass transit center, or a buddy's home where you can carpool; and if you don't have showers on-site, see if there is someplace nearby that does where you can work out arrangements with them. Also, get involved; find a cycling or bike repair group you can join. Your S.O. doesn't have to be the sole motivator. Even if you just join an online cycling forum, it will help with motivation, technique, and suggestions.
