I like to use profanity quite a bit. Fuck and any derivative of it, is probably one of my favorite words in the English language.
Personally I think that profanity being taboo is in some way connected to religion. I couldn't tell you exactly how or why, but I'm suspicious that curse words usually have something to do with sex and bodily functions, topics that religious groups typically enjoy suppressing. Just in the title shit and piss are both bodily functions and fuck and ass reference sex. And damn has it's roots in religion as well (e.g. "You will be damned to the fiery depths of Hell!").
Also, the thought that a word somehow has the magic power of being terrible for no good reason other than "it just is" does not appeal to me.
