Really Drich? Really? You're going to move Ur now?
Not that I give a flying fuck but:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ur - says its in Iraq.
https://www.lds.org/ensign/1991/07/resea...m?lang=eng - Northwestern Turkey / Southern Syria
http://www.tribulationhoax.com/abraham.html - Iraq (I think)
http://www.jewishpress.com/news/archaeol...013/04/05/ - Iraq
Those were the first 4 references to the google search "Where was the land of Ur where Abraham came from?"
Nobody is putting it anywhere near Egypt.
Everyone seems to agree he went to Haran (which is in Iraq) and was heading in the direction of modern day Israel.
You can't invent your way out of this one.

Yes Abram was from Mesopotamia. Which supports everything you just said. But then called out to Abram and told him to move to the land of Canaan. He did. Upon doing this God gave him a new name Abraham. So when one refers to Abraham he refers to Abram post move to Canaan.
I can give you scripture to read if you like... Actually there is a wiki page that sums this up as well.

Fuck any altar boys lately?
Drippy, what you know about archaeology could be written on a postage stamp.
What you know about the bible is unimportant in the extreme. It remains ancient shit.
Ah, c'Mon. This is a thread about archaeology. "fuck any alter boys recently" isn't anywhere close to relevant to the matter at hand, that's just pure ad hom.
You're better than that.
Actually he's not, but he should be.

Since you are fond of unsubstantiated stories, this is all you need to know about modern human attempts to corroborate the story in Exodus....

Now add another 2500 years to the time of Christ and substitute a permanent stone city that was there for hundreds of years, for a tent city that was there less than forty years. (Because they moved around a lot in that forty years.) and then tell me some more about what evidence you are saying would be in a place known to devour a proper city.
