Even at 70, they are about equal to 30 year old drivers. 75 year old drivers have less fatal accidents than 30 year old drivers.
85 year old drivers have less fatal accidents than 25 year old drivers.
But of course, South Park is a much more reliable source than Consumer Reports. What was I thinking?
One wonders about the methodology of such data, and whether it factors in the comparative differences in the frequency of being on the road, for each of the demographics. You know, older people going out less, versus younger ones going out more? I mean, those 25 year old drivers in general will have a more active routine, what with going to work, than a retired 85 year old would; there's more opportunity to get into a crash when you're driving more.
I'm not taking any particular side here, I'm just saying that there's more factors present here than just which age group gets into car accidents most frequently.
