You don't hear "let's minimize the differences between X and Y so we may consider removing something"
Get rid of monetary benefits for people "just because" they are married, whilst keeping benefits like being able to act as a next of kin / make important decisions for them. I don't think at any point I called for the complete abolition of all benefits.
