My first shelter is normally a cave. Either one I carve myself, or one that I find and seal up if it's a tunnel. Considerably easier than gathering supplies and building up, and I like to use the daylight hours to gather other basic supplies anyway.

Just gotta seal all of the holes, and make sure your seal right near the very end of 'the cave'.

... With luck, you won't have utterly missed the cave spider spawner.

Lately I've noticed fewer monsters spawning in survival mode. Is everyone experiencing that? Some night go by without much of a peep from monsters.

My nights are always peaceful... because the map is on fire.

If I hear a monster while I'm out and about, I dig furiously until it is exterminated... and then torch its place of residence

Silly, that's the best part of the game!

Totes gotta have that epic pvp survival, complete with looting, razing, and stealing sheep. Gotta get me some notches on that headboard, Hayter.
