I understand your point and don't disagree. The only thing I'll add is that 'feeling' was the way to interact with the force and shouldn't be construed as similar to a 'burning bosom' feeling. There's no room for theists here. Using feelings to engage the force had tangible effects in the Star Wars universe; i.e., the force could be demonstrated. They can't do the same with their special 'feelings'.
