RE: is there anyone else who has beliefs that are both conservative and liberal?

I'm a mix, myself. I am an Independent, but have never been able to vote for a Republican, except, maybe, for some arcane office like treasurer or something. The thing is, my fixation on LGBT equality alone solidly puts me in the Democrat camp, or so it seems. I am also pro-abortion rights.
I am anti-affirmative action
pro-gun rights for the able-bodied
against illegal immigration (however, I don't even know what the laws in this country are with regard to immigration. So it's more that I just don't like seeing reasonable laws broken. If said laws aren't reasonable, change them.)
I think the ADA definitely needs to be taken down a notch. A small business person should never have to feel like he needs to make things perfectly accessible--- up to, and including, hiring practices---or face bankruptcy. Disability law is an industry in and of itself, and is causing problems in the USA.
I am in favor of tort reform (see above), but that is such a broad issue. I'm not sure all of what needs done.
I am in favor of research into global warming, and the drafting of laws to reverse or prevent it.
I am in favor of free healthcare, fire service, and ambulance, and that all tiers of government should have a hand in it.
I am in favor of a living pension for those with mobility impairments, immediately adjusted to reflect work status at the time.
I am in favor of the death penalty on a case by case basis. The only offenses subject to it would be murder and rape. The method in all jurisdictions should be a single gunshot to the head.
