I admire books that discuss the philosophy behind atheism/agnosticism, but in truth? No one needs to ''make a case'' for atheism. Atheism might seem like a response to theism, but in reality...it just is. It is our most natural state. Creating and concocting gods throughout the centuries, requires a lot of energy that could be going to build a better reality, instead of an unnecessary fantasy. Creating gods as to estalish a 'new reality,' to me, is living a fake life. Living a life that doesn't seem authentic. That seems 'put on.' Which is why so many religious folks talk out of both sides of their mouths. You'll see them drunk driving, yet scolding a homosexual for 'sexually sinning.' They think we are lost, they are the lost ones.
That is what atheism IS--living in the now, and building a better reality. You could be completely illiterate, and be capable of being a useful component of helping to build a better reality. All atheism requires is for a person to be him/herself, living authentically. As we all should be.
