My mind is directly engaged with being good, because maximum good = God.

You can't make that direct link because your understanding of God is completely different to mine. And your understanding of good is severely curtailed by human failings.

I'm certainly not saying that I'm better than you. I'm just showing you how this works.

Of course I can't make your superficial direct link because the maximum good under your definition is entirely arbitrary. I can, however, make the direct link between maximum goodness and corresponding states of mind that result in happier, more productive, more free individuals and societies.
