I think that it's more likely that the men that wrote the bible just didn't mind lesbians, so they didn't bother mentioning it.
Possibly the Greeks and Romans were more open about such things than the Jews. I think the guys who wrote the Old Testament were just clueless schmucks who didn't pay any attention to what was going on in the women's quarters.
