Secondly, it interests me, and it is absolutely my business since my tax dollars pay for people who chose to get Type 2 Diabetes, or cause other medical expenditure due to their weight. You forget, I am also a capitalist.
Quote:This is just one more aspect of religious (in your case, CofE) intolerance. People have a belief, or a habit, or a lifestyle that you don't like, and they're suddenly 'dumb'.I didn't say that, don't put words into my mouth. They're dumb because they don't want to get overweight, but they're wilfully ignorant as to how it happens.
Quote:And now you've managed to add body types to the list of things upon which you can heap your holier-than-thou sanctimony. It has nothing to do with body type!
Quote:You clearly don't care about the (very real) health issues associated with obesity.Um, I clearly do. I have a family history of Type 2 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes is seen as wholly preventable (although I'd grant you that a small number of people have a medical condition that results in unwanted weight gain). Since I have a family history, even though I'm Caucasian I may as well be Indian or Pakistani - I cannot afford to be a single kilo overweight and not expect to be at risk of it.
It's the fat people who don't care about the very real health issues, and most of them don't believe it will happen to them.
Quote:You clearly know a lot about these topics: ever thought of volunteering as a weight-loss counselor, or even putting out a news letter?Yes, and in fact I'm considering exactly how to go about it at the moment.

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
