"In a very interesting research paper published in 1983, physicist Brandon Carter calculated the probability for a species as technically advanced as human beings to have developed from a microbial species in ten billion years or less. The odds are 10^-24,000,000. This result completely rules out the possibility of any extraterrestrial intelligence arising anywhere in the Universe but also the impossibility of human life arising from any naturalistic means." these odds demonstrate improbability that intelligent life arouse on
*Sigh*
He has no way of determining the odds, because he has no complete knowledge of the early conditions of the planet, of what ways abiogenesis is possible, of the branches evolution may have taken, or anything like that. Not only is he working from fundamentally incomplete data, he also has a sample size of one from which to make his calculations.
So to be clear, you're citing calculations of probability from a man not in possession of anywhere near the real facts of the situation, and with only that single, incomplete example to work from. Where does one derive any probability from that level of information?
I know you guys are so desperate, in the face of the real evidence for abiogenesis and all that, that you have to retreat to "it's improbable so it's impossible," but since you also apparently have no understanding of how one comes to conclusions of probability, you're just embarrassing yourselves.
