It implies - and Krauss knows this - that there literally wasn't anything, which is not the case. Modern physics says that that was probably a quantum environment that fluctuated to create the universe. That is something, not nothing.
And you are misrepresenting (or misunderstanding) what is meant by "positive" and "negative" energy.

He means phenomenon like entropy. Entropy is not in the fundamental laws of physics. Entropy is completely a result of statistics, given the fact that there are untold numbers of ways to be more disordered tan to be ordered. In a very simple system (say the collision between two billiard balls), if I play a video of them colliding and you don't know beforehand if it's playing regularly or in reverse, you will not be able to tell if it's playing in reverse or not. This is an example of how the emergent property of entropy is the cause for our perception of time.
