In my experience, pointing things out to religious people has no effect on the way they think and act.
I think it depends on the individual. I have never been religious -- life-long atheist, and so there are some things that I really don't get. I realize that in someone like your aunt, the denial is super-heavey-duty and there is no way that she would be willing to come to terms with the fact that she is just using her doctrine as an excuse for bad behavior -- but I still think that it should be pointed out.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste -- don't pollute it with bullshit.
