Have you offered to take a pay cut to say, janitorial wages?

It's the other way round: I advocate a raising of wages for those in roles with lower salary bandings. There's enough money in the salary pot, most of it is given to executive & upper management.

But if I could afford it, I would. I put my money where my mouth is.

Or offered to give a portion of your pay to a janitor so that the two of you have the same amount of money?

In a way, yes. During the last financial crisis, I was one of those in my company who lobbied for pay-freezes for middle-band staff (like myself) in order to reduce the number of redundancies amongst the operational staff (typically lower-band staff such as call-centre workers).

I do what I can when I'm able.
