During the last financial crisis, I was one of those in my company who lobbied for pay-freezes for middle-band staff (like myself) in order to reduce the number of redundancies amongst the operational staff (typically lower-band staff such as call-centre workers).
I do what I can when I'm able.
As Kusa said, then, why aren't you giving a percentage of your pay to those in the lower echelons, in order to level things out a bit?
Further, I note that you advocated a pay freeze, not an actual pay cut. I don't mean to be rude, but you're coming off like a great, steaming pile of hypocrisy.
