Too right he was. A man of integrity, exemplary character, an outstanding husband and father, fiercely intelligent, personally and literarily courageous - all reasons why theists despise him.
I can easily imagine a groups of religionists sitting round declaiming, 'We've got to get the dirt on Col. Ingersoll!!' It warms my heart that there was no dirt to get.
