That's one of the insidious things about the Bible, the way many writers helped its followers to shield themselves from considerations that might cause them to doubt. If it seems that god is not active, Peter warns us that he's just "patient." If you are stumped by information and evidence that contradict what you believe, it's just the "wisdom of the world" which can't stand up to god's... mysteriousness, I guess, since Paul doesn't explain just why god chose the weak and foolish to "shame" the mighty and wise. But it's enough to get you to dismiss anything that might make you doubt. To the extent that you refuse to respond to the charge that the quote you built your case upon is blatantly out-of-context and dishonest.
