Actually, I am speaking from experience in a sense. I was in for 32 years. I saw families torn apart, people bled dry of their finances, children sent to the sea org to be slave labor. To a scientologist that was normal.
It wasn't until I left and started researching scientology on the internet that I found out about Lisa McPherson, who died while held against her will. Paulette Cooper, a whistle blower who was framed for a felony and gaslighted into what was hoped to be her suicide personally directed by hubbard.
It's something of a shock to realize I was a useful idiot for a criminal cult. All smiles inviting others to join. It's a ghastly experience, one I feel strongly about, especially when I read that bogus pack of intentional lying misdirection called a news article.
OSA (Office of Special Affirs), scientology's secret intelligence dept. uses the legal system to financially destroy any critics caught in their trap which is harass, lie, invent evidence, besmirch reputations, any method to subjugate an enemy. Scientology isn't litigious when they feel their rights are violated, they take away peoples rights through intimidation and fear abusing the legal system when someone blows the whistle on their activities.
Call scientology a mixture of Big Brother and the Gestapo and you wouldn't be far off the mark.
