First off, being gay is not a 'view' any more than being black is. The idea that being gay is something you can change, or something as arbitrary as a political viewpoint is just wrong, and it is being slated this way as an attempt by conservatives to put the two 'ideas' on the same playing field, so they can cry about people not tolerating their bigotry.
Second, you are conflating intolerance of bigotry with bigotry itself. These two things are not the same thing. If those guys had said something anti-semitic or something racially disparaging, people wouldn't be able to line up fast enough to get them off the air, and rightfully so.
No one is owed a platform to spew hate, and the idea that we have some social responsibility to underwrite it is ludicrous. In fact, publically marginalizing that portion of the population has a fantastic effect. Young people see it, and don't want to be that marginalized group. They don't hear about it, and they get told by implication that everyone---no matter race, creed, sexuality, gender, or age---deserves a chance at fair treatment and respect.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
