The tree that they ate from was the knowledge of good and evil. Satan told them the lie that they would not die if they ate from the tree, but he also told the truth when he said they would "be like God, knowing good and evil," Genesis 3:4.

The bible tells us that he said they would die. That doesn't mean that he didn't tell them anything else. Also, even if he didn't tell them, he wasn't required to. Do you think they would have made a different choice if he had?
