Sorry but a group of people from Mexico is a group of mexicans, sorry but political correctness is not my deal.

I get your lack of lust for the word but humor me, what is a group of Germans called?

A group of people from Germany would be a group of Germans.
Humor me, what is a group of people mostly from Germany but a few are from France and some are from Italy? Would you still call them a group of Germans? No. You would call them a group of Europeans maybe.

Wait just a minute! You can't just go around calling people Europeans, that is about as racist as it comes!! (Double exclamation point, just to drive home the anger) I am a European, but I could be African, or Asian, or Australian, or even from Mars. Just because I'm white, speak English and dress snappily doesn't mean you should jump straight to European.

I could be AFrican...I mean, I'm clearly not, but I could be.
