In Islam they can marry 13 y.o. girls. If they are past puberty, it means nature has gifted them with the ability to reproduce and so, they are no longer children. They are considered children because we live in a complicated society that requires complicated decision making, so 18 y.o. is required to understand all the implications of having sex.
Moreover, I haven't seen a single thread denouncing rural America's child marriages to adults.
