Damn it Louis CK, you're turning me into a bad person! I almost never use swear words in audible speech. Not because I don't like them but just something that sort of stuck from my old life. I did notice that I say fuck out loud more if I've been talking with Tarty. He rubs off on me hahahaI used to use "fag/faggot/gay" as pejoratives, but gradually stopped because I think that in that sort of usage they are no different from racial slurs and --having gotten to know a fair number of gay people-- I no longer feel comfortable using them. I still occasionally use "retard" but have been using it less and less for the same reason. I never used "cunt" because in the US it seems to elicit a pretty volatile emotional response. Or maybe that's just my impression, since I never hear it locally.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
