There always has to be doubt. Perhaps that's a safety valve. There's also the admonition to test instructions for validity with the bible. At least two references I've heard say. I'd also check with someone in a position of authority verified with other respected leaders. Given these checks passed, and the whole of my community were in agreement... no I still wouldn't do it. I'm an independent thinker who does what's on his own mind rather than what other people think.

Wow. Are you Neo? Because you're fantastic at dodging quesitons. I'm not asking about your community or or family or your coutnry or your government. I'm asking that if your God spoke to you, and asked you to kill your son, would you do it.

Unless of course you don't think God speaks to people.

Most of us would both agree that we wouldn;t kill our sons...and if an atheist says "yeah..maybe if i was from some shitty infanticidal tribe i might" it's pretty much a wash. Course, infanticidal tribes don;t always produce infanticidle members. People break the rules, morals change (else how would we get so many different groups of them?).

But for the faithful, it's a rock and a hardplace. You either lack faith (wouldn't kill jr no matter what), or become a douche the moment ghosts are invoked (well..I suppose if god said so.....).

Could skip the foreplay and get into the bit about -why- following a gods command or disobeying one might be more moral according to "both" of your moral compasses.

(but if you think that Frods is gonna lick that plate.......lol)

That is the point my OP (tried to) made. If someone can disagree with God based on his or her own moral ideas, then why view that God as anything like infallible?
