I have told him about the evidence for evolution, and the big bang. We have discussed the contradictions in the bible as well as the christian god having impossible characteristics.

Since you apparently have all the answers, what caused the big bang? Also what contradictions of the Bible have you discussed?

It can be difficult for those brought up in a religion to change their views.

Some creationists don't accept anyone who accepts evolution to be "true Christians™".

Creation and evolution are two entirely different subjects.

Evolution does not explain how life was created, therefore one can believe in both creation and evolution.
That would be because evolution has nothing to do with the origins of life - that would be abiogenesis.

If that's the case, however, why do creationists want their nonsense taught alongside or, preferably, instead of evolution?
